Mary A. Paterson, Ph.D.
Dr. Mary A. Paterson is Associate Dean of the School of Nursing at The Catholic University of America. Dr. Paterson is an expert in health policy and has provided consultation and testimony on health care policy issues for the United States Senate, the California and Nevada legislatures, the Maryland State Nurses’ Association, and healthcare industry groups including PacifiCare, Kaiser Permanente, and the Bay Area Business Group on Health. Dr Paterson served as a consultant on health care programs and services to the World Bank, as well as to the USAID and the World Health Organization. Prior to her academic appointment at CUA, Dr. Paterson worked as a Principal Research Associate and International Health Practice Manager at ABT Associates, providing in this capacity technical guidance and consultation to international health projects in over 20 countries, from Europe, to Eurasia, to the Middle East.
Dr. Mary A. Paterson holds a Ph.D degree in Health Services and Policy Analysis from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master’s Degree in Nursing from Georgetown University, and a BA in Nursing from The Catholic University of America. Dr. Paterson is the author of over 30 journal articles, monographs, and technical reports, and is currently preparing a book on healthcare financing for practitioners.
